What to Expect at Our Driving Clinics
Our Hawaii clinics offer a full range of services from senior safety evaluations and adaptive driving needs assessments. Here’s what a typical clinic includes:
- Clinical Assessment: We evaluate your physical, cognitive, and visual abilities, which may include testing strength, reaction time, coordination, and more. This may be completed prior to your behind-the-wheel session.
- Equipment Assessment: We determine what adaptive equipment or vehicle modifications you may need, such as hand controls, steering aids, or pedal extensions.
- In-Vehicle Assessment: You’ll test the recommended adaptive equipment in a safe, controlled environment.
- Training and Recommendations: We provide training on using adaptive equipment and offer personalized recommendations for additional training or modifications.
A comprehensive report is prepared for both you and your physician, ensuring everyone involved has a clear understanding of your needs and progress.
